We should first try to acquire that knowledge, which is beneficial for the entire mankind. This will naturally help us to strenghthen our senses and enjoy a long and disciplined life. Right Knowledge helps us to have a healthy body and consequently a long life of 100 years.

Everybody is aware of the power of speech.Speech should always be pleasing and soothing to ear so that we are loved by one and all. We can acquire knowledge only if we are humble and down to earth and this shows in our speech.

This richa gives name ofthe following self-destructive activities and advises us to abstain from them- atheism, indulging in evil and sinful deeds knowingly, amassing wealth more then one's requirement, greed, acting against the spirit of unity, wandering mind that results into aimlessness, evil thoughts and thoughts that lead to failure and misery.

In the same manner proper understanding of 'Laws of Nature' helps us to fulfill all material needs. Both these types of knowledge is essential for spiritual and materialistic success.

A man should work towards becoming a 'karma-yogi' and meditate on the supreme almighty. He should never forget that his mortal body is going to be burnt to ashes one day. He should therefore engage in such virtuous deeds that bring good fruits. He should introspect and contemplate on the past deeds so that chances of repeating the same mistakes are eliminated.

(108) HIRANMAYENA PAATRENA SATYA STHAPIHITAM SUKHAM |

-------------(40/17Yajurveda)

The 'face of truth' is covered with a gold vessel.
How prophetic this richa is in proclaiming that the 'Face of truth' is covered by 'Gold'. It implies that realisation of Truth is most difficult as it's face has a covering of gold, which is a temptation people find difficult to resist and stop making efforts to realise it. Put in a simple way, each of us has the potential to realise Truth provided we are free from greed because it is the root cause of all sins. Once the gold covering is removed truth becomes visible.
